Halfords has named Sarah Haywood as its new chief information officer (CIO), effective 3 November.
The exec will take over from Adam Gerrard, who is stepping down from the motoring and cycling business at the end of this month after nearly two years.
Haywood most recently worked as CIO of Carlsberg Group, where she ran a major revamp of the food and beverage company’s digital and technology structure.
She has also held technology leadership roles across global companies such as Mondelēz International, Kraft Foods and Cadbury Schweppes.
“Halfords is a fantastic business with a unique position in the UK market providing retail and services across motoring, cycling and leisure,” she said.
“Over the coming years, digital transformation will play a key role in shaping the future of the business, and I am very excited about being part of that journey.”
Halfords CEO Henry Birch added: “We’re delighted to welcome Sarah to Halfords.
Her deep experience in transforming technology capabilities across complex global organisations will be invaluable as we continue to develop our systems to deliver a better experience for our customers and colleagues, and to prepare the business for future growth.”
Halfords named Adam Pay as its new managing director of garages in July, with the executive taking over from Karen Bellairs.
During the same month, the retailer’s outgoing CEO Graham Stapleton saw his pay packet double in his final year, despite the business swinging to a loss.
