Clothing retailer Gap is bringing its stores back to the UK, with the launch of three new shops.

The US fashion brand’s new stores include a site in London’s Covent Garden, opening on 7 November.

The brand will also open a shop in Westfield London on 4 December, and an outlet store at Wembley Park’s London Designer Outlet on 18 December, Drapers reported.

Gap said the new shops were a reflection of its efforts to continue “growing and elevating” its UK store footprint.

The Covent Garden opening represents the return of a UK flagship for the retailer, with the site relaunching its store at 30-31 Long Acre.

The flagship will feature Gap products such as jeans, T-shirts and fleeces, and represents a space to celebrate the company’s “iconic heritage” by combining music, records and culture into the shop.

The launches come as Gap pushes ahead with a “global brand reinvigoration” as it seeks to “connect with customers through meaningful shopping experiences” in today’s market.

The retailer shut its 81 shops across the UK and Republic of Ireland in 2021 as a result of “market dynamics” and as part of its efforts to become a “digital first business”.

Gap entered a joint venture with Next after its closures, which saw the brand run Gap’s ecommerce arm through Total Platform.

Gap currently trades from four shop-in-shop concepts in Next stores, including Oxford Street, London, Braehead, Glasgow and Manchester’s Trafford and Arndale shopping centres.

Additionally, the fashion giant has over 40 concessions in selected Next shops throughout England and Ireland.
