Pret A Manger has opened its first-ever drive-thru location in Warrington, marking a key expansion into roadside and travel hubs.

The new 2,000 sq ft site, launched in partnership with Motor Fuel Group, opened today (5 May) near Junction 21 of the M6, and has been designed to cater to local customers and motorists travelling across the North West.

The drive-thru features a single-lane ordering system with a digital menu, alongside indoor seating for up to 48 customers, with facilities including EV charging points and customer toilets, reflecting its positioning as a convenient stop-off point for drivers.

The Warrington opening is a trial of a new format for Pret, as the business looks to broaden its reach beyond traditional high street, airport and station locations. It comes as the food-to-go giant already operates around 220 outlets in transport hubs across the UK.

To mark the launch, Pret is running its “Joy of Pret” initiative, offering giveaways such as free coffees, croissants and subscriptions throughout opening day.

Pret UK & Ireland president Ross Warnes said the move reflects changing consumer habits: “Travel hubs and roadside locations present a huge growth opportunity for Pret. This is about meeting customers where they are, while continuing to deliver the same freshly made food and service.”

Motor Fuel Group’s head of food service operations, Jack Tindall, added that the site highlights the strength of the long-standing partnership between the two companies.

“We know how much the people of Warrington love great coffee, and we’re thrilled to bring Pret’s freshly made food and Barista-made drinks to them. From freshly baked croissants to sandwiches, salads and organic coffee, this new shop offers everything customers love about Pret designed for modern, on the go journeys.

“We’re incredibly proud to be part launching this new format for Pret and look forward to serving the Warrington community.”
