Bedroom furniture retailer Sharps has been put up for sale for £80 million, six years after it was rescued from collapse.

The retailer was purchased out of administration in 2011 by turnaround firm Sun European Partners, saving 600 jobs.

However, 550 staff were still made redundant as the rest of the Sharps business, including the Dolphin Bathrooms and Moben Kitchens brands, was put into insolvency.

Since the rescue, Sharps‘ sales have grown and it is expected to reach the £100 million mark this year.

It also continues to trade out of 80 stores around the UK.

Sun European is believed to be working on the sale of Sharps with advisers at Spayne Lindsay.

The parent company is also exploring the possibility of either a £400 million sale or float of Dreams after rescuing the retailer four years ago.
