Amazon launches “try before you buy” Prime Wardrobe service

Amazon has begun new service called Prime Wardrobe that lets customers try on clothes at home before they pay for it and return them for free.

Prime Wardrobe is currently on trial in the US and will be available to the online retailer‘s Prime customers at  no extra charge.

It also gives customers one week to decide whether they like what they ordered and they pay only for what they choose to keep.

Free pick-ups can be arranged for the items they do not want, but if they decide to buy three or four items from the box, customers receive a 10 per cent discount – or a 20 per cent discount if they keep five or more items from the box.

Prime Wardrobe is the latest foray by Amazon into apparel as it vies for a larger share of the fashion market.

In May, Amazon revealed it plans to launch a new own-label fashion brand called Find, just months after it hired senior design and buying experts from M&S and Primark for it.

The launch of Prime Wardrobe also comes a week after the online retail giant set out plans to acquire US grocery chain Whole Foods Market for $13.7 billion (£10.7 billion), which analysts have said is an significant step into bricks-and-mortar retail.
