Amazon’s first Clicks and Mortar store for Wales is set to open in St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff on July 22.

This is the online giant’s second store of its kind, with the first Clicks and Mortar store opening at St Mary’s Gate in central Manchester back in early June.

The pop-up shop initiative will see 10 Clicks and Mortar shops launch in cities across the UK, and will offer over 30 local and national ecommerce businesses the opportunity to explore customer-facing retail trade for the first time.

Following the success of the Clicks and Mortar store in Manchester,  the Cardiff store will open for six weeks.

“Small businesses are one of our most important customer groups, and we’re thrilled to work with Enterprise Nation to design a comprehensive package to help entrepreneurs across the UK grow their businesses, both in-store and online,” Amazon UK country manager Doug Gurr said.

“From giving up-and-coming online British brands the chance to experience physical retail, to funding the training of full-time apprenticeships and helping to increase SME exports, Amazon is committed to supporting the growth of small businesses – helping them boost the economy and create jobs across the UK.”

Landsec senior portfolio director Russell Loveland, who spoke on behalf of the St David’s Partnership, said: “Following success in Manchester, this concept will provide online businesses with a tangible platform to trade in a high impact retail area, alongside St David’s national and international retailers and restaurants.”
