Sosandar has announced a new partnership with John Lewis and Next which will see it selling its clothing through the retailers’ websites as it seeks to build on rising sales.

The online fashion retailer saw revenues increase by 62 per cent from April 1 to May 31, compared to the same period a year ago, despite a “significant” reduction in marketing costs during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Order numbers rose 44 per cent, while new customer acquisition increased 15 per cent.

Sosandar said its losses halved year-on-year during the period.

The new deal with department store chain John Lewis and fashion retailer Next means Sosandar can better reach its audience by selling its products through the retailers’ websites from this autumn.

Sosandar said it benefited from lockdown thanks to a 98 per cent increase in traffic and a shift to “more casual ranges” as shoppers seek comfort when shopping for clothing.

It now expects revenues to have more than doubled to £9 million in the year to March 31 when it publishes its preliminary results.

During that 12-month period, repeat orders skyrocketed 144 per cent, its active customer base rose 111 per cent and the number of new customers jumped 67 per cent.

However, Sosandar warned that losses during the fiscal year are expected to come in “slightly higher than anticipated” when it updated the market in mid-March.
