Co-op hires new executive innovation chef

// Dai Llewelyn named as new Co-op executive innovation chef
// He will work with food director Breige Donaghy & the development and innovation team, and develop new products with culinary team

The Co-op has appointed Dai Llewelyn as its new executive innovation chef, which will see him guide the culinary direction of the retailer’s convenience and wholesale food divisions.

Llewelyn, an award-winning chef, will be responsible for product creation for Co-op brands, including its GRO vegan and top-tier Irresistible ranges.

With 15 years’ experience within the food industry, Llewelyn’s most recent role was executive development and innovation chef at Greencore.

At the Co-op, he will work with food director Breige Donaghy and the development and innovation team, while also heading up a culinary team to help develop new products.

This will include working alongside the Co-op’s product developers to identify emerging food trends, implement new technologies, and champion sustainability.

“Dai’s passion for sustainability and making good food accessible, aligns seamlessly with Co-ops approach,” Donaghy said.

“We’re looking forward to putting his fresh thinking, passion and wealth of experience into products our customers and members will enjoy.

“The next decade in the food industry is going to be hugely exciting and we need to continually evolve our offer to meet the needs of our convenience customers and the rapidly changing food agenda.”
