The 2016 Good Housekeeping Food Awards this week saw Costa, Tesco, Marks & Spencer and Lidl beat out several competitors to take the top gong in their awards category.

The prestigious annual food awards sees the magazine’s readers vote in 24 different categories for the most popular food brands and products.

Costa won the Favourite High Street Coffee Shop Award, beating Caffè Nero and M&S Cafe who both came runner’s up.

It’s the second consecutive year in a row the high street coffee chain has won the award.

“We would like to thank our fantastic team of baristas in showing outstanding pride, passion and personality in what they do to help earn us the title and we will continue to listen to customers, working hard to ensure that they will continue to choose Costa as their favourite coffee shop,” Costa’s UK managing director Jason Cotta said.

Meanwhile, Lidl took home Best Supermarket, while Tesco won the category for Online Grocery Store.

Finally, M&S won the award for the Best Wine Range.
