Vivienne Westwood has re-entered the retail scene in New York City with the opening of a brand new flagship in the upmarket Fifth Avenue precinct.

Located on 55th Street, the boutique store is the famed British designer‘s first standalone store in New York state, but not her debut – having had a smaller boutique that opened in 1999 which closed down.

According to WWD, the new 15,000 sq ft shop is twice as large as the previous one and takes up a three-floor, pre-war townhouse.

As well as selling womenswear, menswear, accessories and couture, WWD said the new flagship would additionally be used as an office, showroom, and a “press and sales presence”.

This is Westwood‘s second standalone US store, after the one in LA‘s Melrose Ave.

In October, Westwood opened her first standalone Paris store, which was also the designer‘s third mainland European shop after Milan and Vienna.
