The parent company of fashion retailers Phase Eight and Whistles has acquired premium women’s fashion and online retailer Damsel in a Dress.

The acquisition is the third by TFG London in the past two years, as the company continues to expand and strengthen its UK fashion portfolio.

“We continue to see significant opportunities for both organic and acquisitive growth in the UK market,” TFG London chief executive Ben Barnett said.

“We are delighted with the strong growth in our portfolio of brands over the last 12 months and look forward to a further year of sales and profit progression in 2017.”

As part of the acquisition, Damsel in a Dress will be led by a new team.

Victoria Snepp, former head of design at Baystan, will led the creative direction of the womenswear brand under the strategic direction of Judith Bremner, brand director of Phase Eight and Studio8.

Damsel in a Dress was founded in 2010 and raked in over £7 million in sales in 2016.

As well as online, the brand has concessions at John Lewis and House of Fraser.

“We see significant opportunity to develop the Damsel in a Dress brand in the UK and internationally, leveraging the network and relationships established within Phase Eight and Whistles,” TFG London managing director Lee Harlow said.

“Today‘s acquisition represents a further step on our journey to build a successful international brand portfolio.”
