Tesco has won a legal challenge with tax officials relating to its Clubcard loyalty scheme.

The Big 4 retailer had brought legal action against the HMRC after the latter decided they should not be able to recover VAT after scheme members used “reward tokens” to buy goods from other shops.

Tesco’s win means they are now able to reclaim that VAT, according to Press Association.

Specialist judge Colin Bishopp published his ruling after a tribunal hearing in London.
