Card Factory to open 900th store

Greeting cards retailer Card Factory is set to achieve a landmark as it prepares to open its 900th UK store today in  Epping Forest Shopping Park.

The opening comes after a period of expansion for the high street chain which has opened around 50 new stores every year for the past decade.

The new shop will be opened with a special ribbon-cutting appearance from Chase from Paw Patrol, and Christmas goody bags will be given to the first 100 purchases at the store.

Card Factory opened its first store in Wakefield in 1997 and now employs around 6500 people.

It also hires around 6000 seasonal staff each year.

“We are thrilled to have reached this fantastic milestone of 900 stores, which demonstrates the rapid growth of Card Factory since opening our first store in Wakefield 20 years ago,” chief executive Karen Hubbard said.

“We are confident that our value for money offering will go down well in the Epping Forest area.

“Our store roll-out programme will continue at pace, as we look to bring the Card Factory proposition to even more customers in the years ahead.”
