Crew Clothing has named David Butler as its new chief executive, replacing Louise Barnes who stepped down after the fashion retailer changed hands.

Butler previously worked for Ecco Europe, where he was the managing director of its European business for six years until 2016.

He was also interim head of operations at retail franchising company MAF Fashion in 2010.

Butler’s retail career began with BHS in 1999, starting off as senior store manager before becoming store development manager in 2005.

Crew Clothing has not yet provided comment on Butler’s appointment.

Last month, the fashion retailer was sold to US wholesaler Exquisite Apparel, which is led by Michael Shina.

It was previous run by founder Alastair Parker-Swift and private equity firm Livingbridge, which had a 25 per cent stake in the business.

The change of ownership saw previous chief executive Louise Barnes step down from Crew Clothing.
