Alibaba has talen retail innovation to a whole new level with the launch of the the world’s largest vending machine.

Located in the city of Guangzhou, China, the vending machine sells over 100 Ford motor vehicles.

There are plans for additional giant car vending machines to be built in Beijing and Hangzhou.

Any customer can download the mobile app, pick a selected car via the unmanned vending machine, place an electronic deposit and then take the car for a three-day test drive before deciding on a purchase.

If customers don’t like one of the models, which include the Ford Escort, Mustang and Explorer, they can return the car to the vending machine and take a different one for a spin.

“By leveraging Alibaba’s data intelligence and technologies, the auto vending machine and super drive test services can enable auto brand owners and distributors better serve their customers.” Alibaba vehicles general manager Gu Wanguo said.

“Consumers can use the internet to access more accurate, convenient services and get a deeper understanding into particular vehicles.

“In the meantime, we are opening our car vending machine’s infrastructure to the entire industry to leverage and enable their distributors, in hopes of helping upgrade the automotive sector as a whole.”
