Dunelm hires Laura Carr as new CFO

Dunelm has appointed Laura Carr as its new chief financial officer, succeeding Keith Down who is stepping down for a role closer to his family home.

Carr is expected to join the furniture retailer during autumn, although an exact start date has not yet been confirmed.

She will work alongside new chief executive Nick Wilkinson.

David Stead, Dunelm’s former chief financial officer, has returned to the retailer to take on his old role on an interim basis to help smooth the transition once Down departs the company on May 24.

Carr has been group financial controller of Compass Group, the FTSE 30 multinational contract food, hospitality and support services company, since February 2017.

Prior to that, she was chief financial officer of Indigo Books & Music, Canada’s largest book, gift and specialty toy retailer, from 2014 to 2017.

Carr also held a number of senior finance roles Japan Tobacco International between 2004 and 2013.

“I am delighted to be joining Dunelm and getting back to the dynamic world of retail once again,” she said.

“Dunelm is a strong market leader with exciting plans for growth and I am looking forward to being part of the ambitious executive team.”

Dunelm Andy Harrison said: “We are looking forward to Laura joining the Dunelm team to work with Nick Wilkinson, our new chief executive.

“Laura brings a breadth of business and finance experience, which will really help us to achieve our ambitious business plans to become the leading multi-channel retailer in our space.”
