Selfridges launches world’s largest accessories hall

London’s Oxford Street is now home to the largest accessories hall in the world as Selfridges steps up its opticals game with the launch of the UK’s biggest eyewear department.

The luxury department store this week unveiled its brand new Accessories Hall, spanning 60,000sq ft.

Designed by Alex Cochrane Architects, the new hall features the eyewear departments, pre-screening and treatment rooms, and a 2200-strong range of eyewear.

Customers can shop brands exclusive to Selfridges – 16 of which are new to the store – as well as have new prescription glasses ready within one hour.

Selfridges said it looked to create “a sense of temple-like grandeur” in its new department, using walnut wood, white terrazzo and white marble in the decor.

Alongside eyewear comes the Progressive Edit, where Selfridges showcases fashion-forward accessory ranges alongside Dover Street Market’s (DSM) jewellery space, the first of its kind outside of the DSM London flagship store.
