Intu Group has appointed a contractor to lead the £86 million transformation of Intu Broadmarsh shopping centre in Nottingham.

UK construction company Sir Robert McAlpine is set to start work on the centre early this year following Nottingham City Council’s approval of the project.

Preparatory work began last year.

“We are looking forward to this next stage in developing the centre into a great place to eat, relax and play from day time through to evening,” Intu development director Mark Breeden said.

“The redeveloped Intu Broadmarsh will draw people in from further afield and complement the existing retail offer in Nottingham.”

This news follows the 400,000sq ft extension at Intu Watford last year.

Intu is also currently set on its £72 million redevelopment plan for Intu Lakeside which will launch later this year.
