John Lewis has revealed changes that will be made to its senior leadership team as operations director Dino Rocos retires.

Rocos will step down from his role in May after more than four decades with the department store chain.

The retailer’s finance director Bérangère Michel will take over as operations director at the end of this month.

John Lewis is currently searching for a new finance director.

“I can’t overemphasise the scale of the contribution Dino has made to John Lewis – he has transformed every element of our supply chain to create the distribution network we enjoy today,” John Lewis managing director Paula Nickolds said.

“I am extremely grateful to him for his support and commitment to the partnership.

“Bérangère and Andy both bring a wealth of experience to their new roles and I wish them the very best of luck.”

Meanwhile, stablemate retailer Waitrose has appointed transformation director Ross Avery as finance director.

Avery worked for John Lewis since 2001 and became head of strategy in 2013. He will take on the role from January 28.

Avery will report jointly to Waitrose chief executive Rob Collins and John Lewis finance director Patrick Lewis.

“Ross is a talented, high-calibre leader with the wide experience and deep understanding of our business that will make him a terrific finance director,” Collins said.
