Capital & Regional has promoted its strategic real estate director Robert Hadfield to the post of commercial director.

Hadfield has worked for the major retail property firm since January, and previously he was Debenhams’ group property director from 2011 to 2018.

Before that, he was Debenhams’ acquisitions manager from 2004 to 2009.

In his new role, Hadfield will be responsible for directing the leasing team, CML and temp lettings to drive new retail deals.

He will also execute innovative asset management strategies to optimise the use of space across Capital & Regional’s portfolio of eight community shopping centres.

“Rob’s experience as a retailer will be key to ensuring that we continue to innovate in the community retail sector,” Capital & Regional chief executive Lawrence Hutchings said.

“He has a detailed understanding of the retail market and the critical information retailers need when leasing new locations.”

Hadfield said: “It has been an exciting journey so far. I am looking forward to unlocking the opportunities that exist and working further with the senior leadership / leasing teams to convert new deals hand in hand with driving the community strategy forward.”
