Foot Locker is poised to move into a larger shop in Manchester Arndale to develop a new experience-led flagship regional store.

The global sportswear and footwear retailer will lease approximately 14,000sq ft on Halle Mall after years of trade at it the 7372sq ft Market Street store.

The new split-level store is due to open next year, combining traditional retail space with designated events spaces as well as demonstrations and customer experiences.

“Foot Locker’s commitment to Manchester Arndale, doubling its store footprint with a new and innovative experience-led store, is testament to the centre’s continued popularity and reputation amongst retailers,” said Colin Flinn, regional managing director at Manchester Arndale co-owner Intu.

“Foot Locker’s expansion reinforces Manchester Arndale as one of the north’s leading
fashion hubs.

“In recent months, we have seen a number of leading brands join our lineup, creating an impressive mix of clothing and footwear options to suit all tastes.”

Manchester Arndale has attracted retailers due to the fact that it is one of the UK’s largest city centre shopping centres and welcomes 40 million visitors annually.

Uniqlo opened its flagship store for the north at Manchester Arndale in April.

AllSaints also recently committed to a 10-year lease on a new unit in the centre, following years of strong trading on Market Street.
