Online home interiors retailer Cox & Cox has announced the promotion of operating chief Richard Bell to the role of chief executive.

The news comes as Cox & Cox posts a strong trading update, which it credited to Bell in his former role as the retailer’s chief operating officer.

Sales grew 35 per cent, and Cox & Cox said there was a “sharp increase in profitability” through a focus on customer metrics and new range launches.

Previously at Boden, Belld was instrumental in driving brand awareness and international growth during his 11 years as head of, and subsequently, marketing director of the fashion retailer.

Leaving Boden in 2014, Bell held the position of customer marketing director at Charles Tyrwhitt before joining Cox & Cox in 2018 with a brief to drive awareness and growth.

“Cox & Cox is at a very exciting stage of its journey, and I am extremely proud to be a part of it,” Bell said.

“So much good work has been done in the past two years, laying down a foundation for profitable growth, and ensuring that we build on this momentum.”

Cox & Cox was launched in 2001 after founder, Fiona Cox, found herself inundated with enquiries for a wall decoration she had made as a stylist and presenter on the BBC’s home makeover series Home Front.

It’s a shame he can’t ensure deliveries are delivered!! I placed an order on 21st December and am still waiting. Calls and emails get you nowhere, what a terrible terrible service they offer
