Boohoo Group has reportedly appointed the former managing director of Topman, Mitch Hughes, as managing director of its Dorothy Perkins, Wallis and Burton brands.

The online retailer acquired the brands’ ecommerce, digital assets and associated intellectual property rights from Arcadia Group in February for £25.2 million.

Boohoo Group also acquired department store Debenhams for £55 million in January and said the acquisition of Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis would help support the new Debenhams marketplace.

Hughes joined Arcadia in 2015 as buying director of Burton.

Meanwhile, other former Topshop directors, including Topshop design director Lizzie Dawson, Topshop fashion director Gillian Ridley-Whittle, and Topshop and Topman’s chief operating officer John Richens did not transfer across, Drapers reported.

Hughes said the Boohoo environment and its “forward-thinking attitude is exactly what these historic brands need”.

“My team and I are excited and motivated to crack on and deliver the kind of growth the group shared last week,” he said.

“Our new office in Soho gives us a great advantage to attract key talent to deliver this and the possibilities are endless.”
