Extenda Retail launches new flagship POS solution

Extenda Retail has launched a new flagship point of sales solution that is built on Google Cloud and aims to merge physical and digital shopping.

The global retail software company described its brand new product, Hii (High-Intensity-Intelligent) Checkout as a cloud/cloud-hybrid checkout platform designed for high-intensity digital and physical commerce.

Extenda Retail said recent changes in retail in the wake of the pandemic have highlighted the urgent need to adapt customer journeys so it suits changing needs. This could entail keeping shoppers safe, creating a more personalised offer and experience, or increasing channels to market and unify the offer.

With that in mind, Extenda Retail said its Hii Checkout was built on Google Cloud to create a new commerce platform that is designed to allow retailers to craft multiple, connected customer journeys across physical and digital channels.

The product’s component-based architecture means services can be deployed to balance flexibility with resilience, and deliver a unified, frictionless experience to shoppers and employees on both retailer and consumer devices.

The Hii Checkout is made up of three key components. The first is the Hii Checkout Engine, which transacts the customers’ shopping baskets regardless of the channel, powers unified pricing and promotions across all channels and devices, and allows for products to be checked in or out of the cart from anywhere at any time.

The second component is the Hii Checkout Hub, which handles all data transfers to and from other systems. This comprises of a library of microservices and APIs, allowing retailers to configure their own checkouts based on individual requirements.

The final component is the Hii Checkout App, which delivers the end-user experience to both shoppers and employees on any device.

Extenda Retail said its “headless and API-first approach” allows retailers to create unique customer experiences by utilising all or some of Hii Checkout’s three components.

The firm added that the Hii Checkout enables real-time, universal updates across all checkout systems and devices, continuous deployment and upgrades, real-time pricing, promotions and data.

“The future of retail is all about experience and engagement, and is boiled down to winning the carts, the hearts and the minds of consumers,” Extenda Retail chief executive Leendert H Venema said.

“Extenda Retail is committed to creating these frictionless and enjoyable shopping journeys that keep your customers coming back.

“These ever-changing consumer demands put pressure on retailers to move away from solutions that are restricted by the heavy, monolithic applications of the past.

“We are thrilled to launch our new flagship Hii Checkout to help our retail customers create speed, service and differentiation in their businesses.

“In partnership with Google, this platform enables our customers to deliver fast, pleasurable and seamless checkout experiences – and that’s what we see as the future of retail.”

Google Cloud managing director Eva Fors said: “We are excited to expand our partnership with Extenda Retail, as they deliver their suite of best-in-class retail solutions on Google Cloud.

“By leveraging Google’s catalogue of cloud services, innovative partners like Extenda Retail are able to move faster, as they transform their business to thrive in the rapidly evolving world of digital retail.”
