The John Lewis department store has opened the doors to its Christmas Emporiums across 10 of its UK stores.

The retailer is hoping to offer a one-stop Christmas shopping experience, with the emporiums hosting in-store events, festive workshops, and offering personalised gifting experiences.

Some of the Christmas emporiums will also offer food experiences, including personalising a bottle of champagne with a photograph and Quality Street personalisation stations.

In addition, the business has opened Christmas shops across 25 stores as it revealed that searches for Christmas on johnlewis.com are up nearly 40 per cent in comparison to the same time last year.

Each shop will sell over 1,000 seasonal products, 90 per cent of which will be own brand.

The moves follow the earlier than usual opening of John Lewis’s online Christmas shop in August after online searches for Christmas soared.

John Lewis & Partners head of Christmas Lisa Cherry said: “Customers have had an elongated summer with restrictions lifting mid-way and wedding season starting later than usual but now they are certainly ready to start planning and looking forward to Christmas 2021.

“So this year we have created the Christmas Emporium bringing everything into one-stop-shop. These are designed so that customers can blitz their seasonal to-do list and pick up everything they need in one fell swoop, but also be a day out for the whole family to kick off their festive fun with tastings, games for the children and inspirational workshops.”

Christmas Emporiums can be found in John Lewis stores in Bluewater, Oxford Street, Peter Jones, Southampton, Trafford, Cribbs Causeway, Kingston, Cheadle, Milton Keynes and Newcastle.
