Frasers Group has revealed that alongside Gateshead’s Metrocentre, Flannels will also be opening flagship stores in Leeds and Cardiff.

In a bid to secure Flannels at the forefront of luxury retail in the UK the plan will see the department store retailer open locations in Leeds, Cardiff, and Gateshead, all upwards of 80,000 sq. ft in size.

According to the Sports Direct owner, these stores will “be modern, agile retail experiences, that will become leading destinations for new luxury, through a world-class offering and innovative design.”

Flannels chief executive Michael Murray said: “Our plans to expand with a series of new experience-orientated flagships, demonstrates how we’re doubling down on our commitment to ‘new luxury’ and bringing world-class experiences to untapped markets.

“Our expansion plans not only demonstrate the confidence we have in our strategy, but they also show our continued belief in the future of the UK’s high streets, which through our stores, we aim to re-ignite.”

The expansion plans will see significant investment from Frasers, with Leeds,
Cardiff and Metrocentre flagships currently anticipated to open late 2023.

The announcement follows the opening of Flannels’ largest store to date – its 120,000 sq ft Liverpool store, spanning over seven floors.

The flagship boasts a vast beauty hall, four food and beverage destinations, a world-first Barry’s Bootcamp, a ‘tweakments’ destination courtesy of celebrity-approved Dr. Esho, and a roof terrace with city views.
