New E-Commerce Sector Report: How the Fashion Industry is Embracing Marketplaces

Ever wonder what factors lead online shoppers to abandon their carts?

We have, too. So we asked more than 5,000 global consumers about it as part of a larger survey we recently conducted with Dynata across the US, UK, Australia, France and Germany.

Not surprisingly, out-of-stock products frequently led consumers to abandon their purchases (more than 50% of consumers in all five countries indicated this had happened to them, 58% in the UK) — but intriguingly, “not enough or unclear information” was also a decisive factor for 44% of consumers in Germany who abandoned their carts. In the UK, bad reviews led 47% of shoppers to drop their purchases in the last 12 months, and nearly a quarter (24%) of shoppers indicated they had left due to “too few customer reviews.”
