Frasers Group has started a consultation at the fashion brands it bought from JD Sports, placing 90 jobs at risk.

The group acquired 14 businesses from JD Sports just before Christmas in a surprise £47.5m deal.

Redundancy consultations have begun at several businesses, including at Tessuti and Scotts, which are still located within the JD head office building in Bury, Lancashire.

A source told Retail Gazette that at least 90 roles are affected.

Frasers Group did not respond to Retail Gazette’s request for comment.

Those in the redundancy consultations have been told not to speak to the press.

Some of those affected have been offered alternative work at Frasers’ headquarters at Shirebrook, Derbyshire, according to fashion industry expert Eric Musgrave.

Since last week, customers visiting the websites of Base Childrenswear and premium mini-chain Choice, plus Tessuti and Scotts have been redirected to the Flannels site.

Meanwhile, the websites of the Cricket premium fashion store in Liverpool, Scotland-based menswear mini-chain Xile and London-based menswear brand Prévu Studio each have a holding home page stating they are being updated or have technical issues.
