Next has promoted Lipsy co-founder Jeremy Stakol to its board, as he takes on the role of group investments, acquisitions and third party brands director.

Stakol, who founded Lipsy with his wife Marcelle, joined Next when they sold the brand to the retail giant in 2008.

He has been managing director of Lipsy since 2004 and in more recent years has led many of Next’s investment and Total Platform deals, such as Joules, Victoria’s Secret and Gap.

In his new role, Stakol will lead investments and acquisitions in third-party brands, promote Next’s Total Platform to potential new clients, and will help maximise the sale of third-party fashion brands via its website.

Next has been on the acquisition trail of late as it buys brands, or stakes in brands, to plug into its Total Platform.

It has bought Joules and Made.com, and has acquired stakes in Reiss, JoJo Maman Bebe, Gap and Victoria’s Secret.

Stakol will also oversee Lipsy’s development, along with other brands the retail giant owns, other than Next.
