M&S launches ‘Icons’ range to help shoppers build ‘timeless capsule’ wardrobes

Marks & Spencer has launched its new M&S Icons ranges in a bid to help shoppers build a capsule wardrobe full of staples.

The retailer called its new range “a curated edit of timeless pieces across womenswear and menswear that form the foundations of any capsule wardrobe.”

Each item has been selected for its versatility and timeless style, from tailoring to outerwear, knits, jersey and shirting – and pieces can either be worn as separates, or used to anchor seasonal styles and colours.

The M&S Icons edit will be available to shop throughout the year with pieces starting from £20.

M&S managing director for clothing & home Richard Price said: “Now more than ever, our customers want clothes that are going to work hard for them and give them great cost per wear. Made well and made to last has long been part of our trusted value DNA and through M&S Icons, we’re showing up with confidence and getting behind the quality and timeless style of our clothing that we know our customers will want to wear time and time again.”

Earlier this month, the high-street f=giant was named the best fashion brand as shoppers voted with their feet and returned to Marks & Spencer.

Research by French bank BNP Paribas showed that over the past year, an increasing number of shoppers have been enticed by the retailer’s clothing offering with affordable prices, leading to a ‘real resurgence of the brand’.

A survey of 5,000 women in France, Germany, Spain and the UK looked at feelings towards M&S and rivals including Next, Primark and Boohoo.
