Waitrose has received a much-needed boost in sales as demand for its Duchy Organic range soars ahead of King Charles III’s coronation on Saturday.

Set up by the King in 1990, the brand partnered with the upmarket grocer in 2010 and is the UK’s largest organic food and drink brand.

“We’re seeing strong demand for Duchy Coronation products,” a Waitrose spokesman told This is Money.

“Our customers particularly like products which can be kept as a souvenir like the Duchy shortbread tin.”

The upmarket grocer added searches for Duchy recipes on its website have also rocketed in the lead up to the coronation weekend.

“Searches for Duchy banana and raisin tea loaf are up 42 per cent on the same week last year and searches for Duchy Golden Ale and dark chocolate cake are up 127 per cent,” the spokesman said.

The brand was set up by the King while he was the Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall to sell the organic produce from his farm.
