Castore, the English sportswear retailer founded by brothers Phil and Tom Beahon and backed by tennis star Andy Murray, has been named the second fastest-growing private company in Britain.

The business has achieved annual sales growth of 285.80% over three years, according to the latest Sunday Times 100 rankings which also showed it hit sales of £115m in the 12 months to the end of January 2023.

Headquartered in Manchester, the company also counts the billionaire owners of Asda Issa brothers among its investors.

Back in May the business upped its revenue forecast for 2023 by 30%, now expecting sales to hit £200m, representing a 100% increase year-on-year.

Key drivers for its rise in revenues came as it secured kit deals with European football clubs such as Feyenoord Rotterdam FC, Athletic Club Bilbao, Football Association of Ireland, FC Twente, FC Utrecht and collaborations with high-profile sports people including Andy Murray.

It has also introduced new localised ecommerce platforms and grown its physical retail portfolio, adding a minimum of three stores across key European cities, including Amsterdam, while also securing a wider net of wholesale partners.
