Sainsbury’s bolsters online fashion marketplace

// Sainsbury’s adds more third-party brands to its Tu website
// The supermarket chain has been targeting multiple fashion brands for a new online fashion marketplace

Fashion label Finery London is one of several brands that has joined Sainsbury’s growing online fashion marketplace.

The supermarket chain has added almost twenty fashion brands to its Tu website as it looks to boost its third-party offering.

The initiative, first reported by The Times, is being led by former John Lewis managing director Paula Nickolds, who is responsible for Sainsbury’s non-food business.

She is joined by fellow former John Lewis exec, Christine Kasoulis, who heads up the retailer’s clothing and home division.

Other brands that have signed up to the site include Little Mistress, Sosandar and Lilly & Sid, as well as lingerie brands Love Luna and Triumph.

Last month, it was revealed that Sainsbury’s was pitching to a number of brands, including Jigsaw and White Stuff, to sell through its website and in its larger stores.

The supermarket chain is not the only retailer keen to expand its third-party offering.

Last week, M&S added Crocs, Skechers and Toms to its ‘Brands at M&S’ platform in a bid to capitalise on the growing footwear market, which is estimated to be worth more than £14m in the UK.
