John Lewis Partnership halves size of head office with new site

John Lewis Partnership is downsizing its headquarters as it moves to a smaller office.

The department store retailer is set to ditch its 220,000 square feet Victoria Street site for a new 108,000 square feet space in Pimlico.

The news comes after the business said last year it was searching for a head office better suited to the rise of hybrid working, before its lease ran out in December 2024.

John Lewis hopes to start moving to its new headquarters from next summer.

A John Lewis Partnership spokesperson commented: “The move will help ensure we’re well placed for hybrid working and builds on more than 80 years of having a base in the capital.

“Over the coming months we’ll get the building ready for us to move in next year”.

The downsize will save money for the business, making it good news for chairman Dame Sharon White’s turnaround plan.

Last month, White pledged to return the retailer to profit before 2026, adding that staff bonuses would only return “when affordable”.
