Amazon boss to remote employees: ‘Come to the office or it’s not going to work out’

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has warned his remote employees that “it’s probably not going to work out” for them at the company unless they come to the office at least three days per week.

Jassy criticised staff that didn’t meet its new working policy, which requires staff to work from the office at least three days a week, during an internal meeting, according to Insider.

The chief executive said: “It’s past the time to disagree and commit. If you can’t disagree and commit … it’s probably not going to work out for you at Amazon because we are going back to the office at least three days a week.”

Jassy informed staff in February that they would be required to return to the office for the three days from 1 May. Under previous rules, individual teams were permitted to choose whether their staff members came to the office.

The CEO wrote on the business’s corporate blog:”Teams tend to be better connected to one another when they see each other in person more frequently.”

However, nearly 30,000 Amazon staff members signed a petition against the controversial policy back in May.
