Wilko’s new owner The Range has relaunched the brand’s website after buying it out of administration last month.

The discount retailer has recommenced trading on thousands of product lines across the home and garden, with hundreds of new lines and own brands to be added to the site daily.

The Range snapped up Wilko’s brand, website and intellectual property in September after the retailer was forced to call in administrators.

Chief executive Alex Simpkin said it was important that the Wilko brand “had a future”.

“For 93 years, wilko has been a fixture of many British households, synonymous for its breadth of products offering great quality value.

“Using our online and digital expertise, our intention is to continue to offer the best of Wilko brands and products alongside a breadth of household brands to its loyal customers who we hope will be happy to see this trusted brand live on.”

As part of the £5m deal, 36 employees from the fallen retailer’s digital team were transferred over to The Range.

Wilko’s 400-plus store portfolio was then earmarked for closure, making more than 12,000 employees redundant.

Wilko chief digital officer Ben Exall said: “There’s no denying that it was the team members and local store network that helped make wilko so special.

“The loss of thousands of jobs as stores closed up and down the country has been devastating.

Shouldn’t this headline read “The Range relaunches wilko website?” Wilko remains in administration. Not the same company.

But Debenhams went into administration in 2020 and Boohoo now owns and operates Debenhams.com.

What was the point of getting the website up and running with no stock.

Surely it will just be an extension of the Range website.

So, The Range has reopening Wilko’s website eh?
That would be a great move…..it if actually had anything for sale on it. I’ve wasted over an hour on the website and couldn’t find ANYTHING in stock…
So what’s the point in advertising the reopening it if nothing is being sold on it ..???
    Pathetic!

The Range has been ripping off the old Wilko suppliers and forcing some in to administration by paying under the cost price for the Wilko stock they are left with and as soon as they have sold it through and they have made a big profit the Wilko name will probably disappear so the Range are no better than Wilko.
