Dr Martens hires Apple exec as first-ever chief brand officer

Dr Martens has appointed Apple director Ije Nwokorie as its first-ever chief brand officer.

Nwokorie, who already sits on the board of the footwear brand, has been Apple’s senior director for retail since January 2018.

He will stand down from the Dr Martens board when he takes up the executive role in February.

Nwokorie will set the overall brand strategy, vision and direction for the next phase of Dr Martens’ growth as the business targets £2bn in revenue. He will oversee the global marketing, product and strategy functions.

Dr Martens chief executive Kenny Wilson said: “Ije is a visionary brand storyteller and this, along with his infectious passion for Dr. Martens, makes him the ideal person to lead the next era of our brand development.”

Earlier this week, the footwear retailer named Giles Wilson as its next chief financial officer after outgoing finance boss Jon Mortimore announced his retirement back in April.
