Majestic Wine has joined forces with digital platform for the over-50s Rest Less to attract a larger number of older colleagues to the company.

The partnership allows Majestic to post vacancies from all areas of the business on the Rest Less job board.

Rest Less, which was launched in 2019, helps its members “get the most from life” from employment opportunities to health advice.

The move comes as the wine retailer has seen a rise in older staff members joining the business since the Covid pandemic and cost-of-living crisis, as rising interest rates and inflation push many over-50s back into employment.

Majestic has welcomed 231 new workers aged over 50 since September 2019, making it almost a 90% rise in the number of colleagues it employs in that age range.

Across its stores, the business has taken on 168 new staff members over 50 during the past four years.

This means 35% of Majestic’s colleagues in its UK stores, Hemel Hempstead distribution centre and Watford support centre are aged over 50, ahead of the average for UK retailers.
