The Perfume Shop unveils £2.5m investment in cutting-edge warehouse tech

The Perfume Shop has invested £2.5m into “industry-leading warehouse automation technology” at its Dunstable warehouse in a bid to reduce environmental impact and future-proof its distribution capabilities.

The UK’s largest fragrance retailer said the new system will lead to improved efficiencies with three times quicker processing of customer orders and a reduction in packaging of 40%.

The business said the new investment delivered by Breathe Technologies alongside the new website will help further advance customer growth.

The Perfume Shop managing director Gill Smith said the scale of the investment demonstrates the group’s commitment to its customers, communities, and colleagues.

“While we remain committed to delivering a brilliant customer shopping experience, we’re also seeing our e-commerce business move from strength-to-strength.”

“Investment into warehouse automation will ensure we’re keeping up with the increasing demands of our online business.”

The retailer has seen its online traffic increase as it now expects its website to deliver around 28% of sales this year with growth vs last year.

In a move to reduce its environmental impact, last year The Perfume Shop launched the UK’s first multi-brand fragrance refill station in collaboration with L’Oréal.

The station, introduced in the retailer’s Nottingham store, was created to help meet shopper demand for more environmentally-friendly perfume options.

The refill station sells fragrances including YSL, Prada, Lancôme, Armani and Mugler.
