Co-op launches in-app member pricing in Uber Eats tie-up

Co-op has become the first UK supermarket to offer member pricing to consumers using the Uber Eats app.

The convenience chain’s exclusive pricing applies to 250 of its products listed on the delivery app, which shoppers can access by inputting their membership number at check out, The Grocer reported.

It builds on the existing partnership between Co-op and Uber Eats, which sees around 1,000 of the supermarket’s stores available through the platform.

Co-op ecommerce director Chris Conway said: “Growing and innovating our online channels is a fundamental part of our approach, and our members are at the heart of our business.

“Co-op membership is a different way of doing business, and by working with Uber Eats in this way we can provide greater financial benefits to our members, who own our business, through lower prices and savings across an extensive choice of everyday groceries.”

The extended partnership forms part of the supermarket’s new approach to loyalty, after it emerged last month that it was replacing its rewards scheme with a “significantly increased” range of member-exclusive prices and deals.

Co-op also unveiled plans to boost its number of members from 5m to 8m by 2030, after new sign-ups rose ahead of expectations last year at 15%.
