The Perfume Shop Valentine’s sales heat up as gift sets surge

The Perfume Shop saw Valentine’s Day sales soar this year, as its classic fragrances and gift sets dominated the market.

Sales volume shot up 18% compared to the same time last year, with the retailer selling 200,000 bottles during its Valentine’s Day campaign.

The perfume retailer’s performance was driven by a 67% rise in sales of its classic fragrances, as well as a staggering 110% hike in gift sets compared to last year.

Promotional deals also proved popular, with the website experiencing its busiest day on 13th February with a 23% uplift in perfume purchases on 2023 levels.

Likewise, The Perfume Shop’s personalisation services were in high demand, as its deliveries of personalised ribbons and engraved fragrances to loved ones were up 13% on last year.

The Perfume Shop’s trading director Andrea Rickard said: “We knew that Valentine’s this year was going to be even more special than last year, which is why we’re so pleased to see exceptional sales results from both our stores and online.”

In January, The Perfume Shop unveiled a £2.5m investment into “industry-leading warehouse automation technology” at its Dunstable warehouse, in a bid to reduce environmental impact and future-proof its distribution capabilities.

The retailer said the new system would lead to improved efficiencies with three times quicker processing of customer orders and a reduction in packaging of 40%.
