The Fragrance Shop sales surge as expansion plans pay off

The Fragrance Shop has enjoyed a bumper year boosted by new shop openings.

The perfume specialist’s like-for-like sales increased 6.1% in the 12 months to 1 April, contributing to a 9.4% surge in overall business growth.

It noted increased demand for designer perfumes, with sales of Versace fragrances up 48% and Jean Paul Gaultier up 40% year-on-year.

The retailer said it plans to further expand its 223 stores across the UK over the next three years to hit 300 shops. It will also roll out to international markets.

Chief executive Sanjay Vadera said the Oxford Street flagship has been a “great success”.

“We’ve also seen incredible growth within our membership programme, MyTFS, which is now a thriving community of over one million members and have continued to expand our retail footprint across the UK with 13 new stores.

“This year, we will be celebrating a huge milestone – 30 years in business! We have plans to expand our store portfolio even further across the UK, as well as delivering continued growth of our MyTFS and scentaddict programmes. It’s a very exciting year ahead for us.”
