John Lewis has seen demand for its TVs skyrocket ahead of the 2024 UEFA European football championship, which begins this Friday (14 June).
The department store said TV and AV sales had soared 47% compared to the same period last year, with shoppers spending on average 13% more on their home entertainment set up.
It noted many consumers were upgrading to larger screens, with sales of 65” TVs more than doubling (104%) and 70” screens skyrocketing 123%.

John Lewis said more customers were purchasing OLED and QLED TVS as well as taking advantage of combined offers, with sales of soundbars up 21%.
The retailer’s lead TV & AV buyer Katrina Mills said: “Our customers clearly want to be immersed in great sporting action this summer, bringing the stadium experience to their sofas.
“They want a picture and sound quality to rival the real deal – and when it comes to TVs, it’s certainly the bigger, the better this summer”
John Lewis’ surge in sales come as Argos revealed it expects to sell four TVs every minute during this year’s summer of sport.
