ScS chief financial officer Mark Fleetwood has quit the furniture specialist following its near £100m takeover deal last year.

Fleetwood, who joined the retailer in September from fashion brand END Clothing, is currently working his notice period.

It is understood that he joined ScS last year partly because of its listed status, which led Fleetwood to hand in his resignation after it was taken private in January.

His departure comes as chief executive Steve Carson left the business this month after overseeing ScS’s departure from the London Stock Exchange at the start of the year following the take-private deal up by Italian furniture retailer Poltronesofà in October.

It is understood that there is a senior leadership team in place running ScS, who are working closely with the team in Italy.

This week, the sofa chain unveiled the first eight of its new-look stores that it described as a “radical change in concept and sensory impact”.

It emerged last week that the chain had stopped selling carpets and flooring to align better under its new owner Poltronesofà, which sells only sofas and armchairs.
