Hobbs owner Foschini in talks to buy White Stuff

The owner of Hobbs and Whistles is in advanced talks to acquire White Stuff.

The Foschini Group (TFG) is nearing a deal to snap up the fashion high street chain and invest in its expansion plans, Sky News reported.

Sources said an agreement could be make within days.



The price for White Stuff is unclear and currently under discussion, but analyst’s estimate it is within the region of £50m.

Foschini, which has a British subsidiary called TFG London, also owns Phase Eight and Damsel in a Dress.

Investment bank Rothschild was hired by the pair in February following the an unsolicited approach from a prospective buyer.

Earlier this month, TFG revealed it would be opening its largest multi-brand store at Liverpool One.

Set to open next spring on South John Street, the 12,000 sq ft flagship will house Hobbs’ luxury fashion, Phase Eight’s occasionwear, and Whistles’ contemporary womenswear, along with specialist collections such as bridal and petite ranges and a luxury styling suite for event shoppers.
