WHSmith has launched an own-brand Christmas sandwich range for the very first time across 300 travel stores, as it expands its food-to-go offering.

Available from today (20 November), the new range is part of the travel and high street retailer’s exclusive Smith’s Family Kitchen food-to-go line and is made up of eight different sandwiches.

The festive range includes Ultimate Christmas Dinner, with turkey and sage and onion stuffing, Merry Miso Chicken in a brioche bun, and Vegan Spiced Parsnip Christmas sandwich.

WHSmith UK travel managing director Andrew Harrison said: “In my book, your first Christmas sandwich marks the true start of the festive season, and our new range is perfectly designed to get all our travelling customers into the Christmas spirit.

“This launch marks another food first for WHSmith and shows just how committed we are to growing our food credentials and offering a high-quality range for travelling customers, particularly those wanting a bit of Christmas magic on their journey!”

The new festive sandwiches follow WHSmith launching Smith’s Family Kitchen back in September, it’s first ever own-brand food-to-go range, consisting of sandwiches and wraps, in response the the growing demand for food among its customers at its travel stores.

The retailer said food now represents 15% of sales in its UK travel stores, with the category expected to growth further in the coming years.
