Food delivery firm Gopuff is picking products from Morrisons stores and sending them straight to its app users.
The rapid delivery company currently picks from its own dark store network across the majority of locations it covers, according to The Grocer.
Despite this, Gopuff is picking, packing and dispatching orders taken from three Morrisons’ stores in London, Watford and Newcastle as part of an ongoing trial.
The trial is understood to have been ongoing for several months.
Gopuff is understood to be carrying out orders from Morrisons’ Camden, London, supermarket during its opening hours, and then taking orders from its own dark store at night, meaning a different selection of items available to customers dependant on the time of day.
Morrisons partnered with Gopuff in 2022, with the Northern chain essentially acting as a wholesaler to Gopuff at the time, operating out of a number of dark stores.
Commenting at the time, former Morrisons boss said: “Gopuff is an acknowledged leader and innovator in rapid delivery and this partnership will enable us to deliver a very strong range of Morrisons fresh food and customer favourites to front doors across the UK in a matter of minutes.”
Last March, Co-op teamed up with Uber Direct to launch a quick commerce partnership trial.
The move allowed shoppers and members to order their groceries from the retailer’s website via its app through the Uber Eats delivery network.
In June 2021, Asda also partnered with Uber Eats to launch an ‘Express Delivery’ service offering delivery from its full online range of over 30,000 products in an hour.
