Nike will open a pop-up inside Microsoft’s former Oxford Circus flagship while its NikeTown store opposite is being refurbished.
The sports giant closed its iconic central London store in mid-January to undergo a two-year renovation.
It will move into Microsoft’s former unit in the coming months to continue trading, Drapers reported.
Niketown opened in 1999 and is the largest store in the world, spanning 42,000 sq ft over four floors.
At the time of its temporary closure, Nike UK director of stores Charmain Mason said: “As we temporarily bid farewell to Niketown London, a sporting sanctuary of inspiration for the past 25 years, I can’t help but reflect on the countless and extraordinary, events, achievements, sporting superstars, customers it has hosted or brought to life.”
“But I fear not, for NikeTown is not truly departing. She will return, more magnificent, more daring, and as inspiring as ever. Until her grand reopening, l’ll be carrying her spirit with me – ahh swoosh!”
