Louis Vuitton has reported that the data of some of its UK shoppers was stolen during its cyber attack last week.
The luxury fashion firm confirmed that an unauthorised third party had accessed its UK operation’s systems and taken information including names, purchase history and contact details.
However, the company assured shoppers that no financial data such as bank details had been taken.
In an email to customers, the brand said: “While we have no evidence that your data has been misused to date, phishing attempts, fraud attempts, or unauthorised use of your information may occur.”
Louis Vuitton has notified relevant authorities, including the Information Commissioner’s Office.
The cyber attack on Louis Vuitton occurred on 2 July, Bloomberg reported, with the incident marking the third breach of its parent company LVMH’s systems during the past three months.
It comes after the business reported that its Korean arm had been hit with a similar cyber attack last week.
The incident follows a string of cyber attacks on retailers of late. Earlier this week, it was reported that three teenage boys and a 20-year-old woman had been arrested following attacks on major UK retailers such as M&S, Co-op and Harrods.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) said the suspects were detained early Thursday morning across the West Midlands, London and Staffordshire.
