Hobbycraft is set to launch its own TV shopping channel as demand for arts and crafts video tutorials rise.
The specialist retailer said the platform will feature daily, demonstration-led content from expert makers and with the products spotlighted available for purchase.
Hobbycraft TV goes live on Freeview channel 97 from 7:30am on 4 September, as well as on the retailer’s website. Previous episodes will be available to stream on the business’ YouTube page.
The retailer’s chief executive Alex Willson said: “The launch of Hobbycraft TV marks an exciting chapter for the business with the introduction of an innovative new media channel for customers to experience Hobbycraft.
“It will offer a seamless shoppable experience with daily demonstrations, expert guidance and creative content, all designed to inspire, educate and connect with both new audiences and our existing crafting community.”
It is one of the first major moves from the retailer since its restructuring plan, which saw the closure of dozens stores and hundreds of jobs cut across the business.
Hobbycraft shops in Bromborough, Southport, and Stratford-upon-Avon will stop trading this month, while its Wigan, Maidenhead, Chichester, Stafford, Kings Lynn and Crayford locations will close in September.
